Seatbelt Dinger

Posted by Oil Field Trash on 28th May 2005

The Ford pickup I drive has all the bells and whistles, including all the safty equipment that Ford thinks will make my trips safer. Well the Seatbelt Dinger is a pain in the ass, it’s too loud and last for ever, even after you buckle up. Saturday my buddy Buck and I where looking at some pipe work, and he noticed how bad it was and said. Why don’t you turn it off? I had no idea that I could do such a thing. Buck got out my owners manual and showed me how. I open and close 10 to 20 gates a day and sure is a better deal to not be hearing ding ,ding ,ding all day long.

New Style Cat Loader

Posted by Oil Field Trash on 27th May 2005

Recs, Inc a Company that I am close to, just purchased a 930G Cat Loader. It has the new MonoBoom a new idea that Cat thinks will put it over the top. All other loaders have 2 loader arms that connect the bucket or forks to the machine. The one pictured is Rented to EOG in beautiful Bono Tx. They are using it to loadout a Nabors Rig headed to Mansfield. At no time has any operator even noticed that it was better, but believe you Mr. Cat thinks it’s a way better Idea. Time will tell.

Visit to Pioneer Drilling

Posted by Oil Field Trash on 25th May 2005

I went out to meet Steven Bracken & Charlie Walsh w/ Pioneer Drilling they called me to visit about some ongoing business, but in the process of my Visit I could’nt help but notice how orginized the Rig looked. Its my understanding that everytime they lay the rig down they hit it with a Powerwasher. As I talked to Charlie I realized how many of the same people we knew. You can forget droping names, around those boys ,they have been there. Hallwood Should be happy they have this bunch punching holes.

Vacuum Truck Mania

Posted by Oil Field Trash on 22nd May 2005

Fresh water, Salt water, Floback, Drilling Mud, Man O Man, Seem like a neverending need for Vacuum Trucks. I find it interesting that people a year ago never heard of one, are now experts (they still spell it w/1u) All you got to do is, go down to the Mack House and sign a 5yr note, then shit a Vac-trailer, and off you go. But wait. Hold everything . What about a driver? Well lets define Driver. First of all they must have Valid CDL and no accidents, Must show up every day, no drugs, no booze, willing to work nights & weekend, be able to doctor his log books, read maps, follow direction(example; put hot saltwater in disposal well instead of a Farmers field), last but not least, take care of your equipment. Sounds simple enough”right” well good luck. I have a hard enough time keeping drivers in my 50ton Lowboys working 5/10′s. I lost several men to Vac-truck startups companys and I wish them luck, but every guy that quit bitched about working saturdays. Oh they are getting a Dollar a hour more, but you got to show up first. My thought are. Do what I’m good at and leave that part of the Oilfield to the experts. One thing I know for sure (Crums taste the same as Pieces, and that how you build a Cake). ps (We help move a Nabors Rig from Bono to Mansfield Saturday)

Jay MIlls Low Bid

Posted by Oil Field Trash on 19th May 2005

Jay Mills Construction of Stephenville was low bid on the Wheeler Branch Reservoir, just north of Glen Rose his bid was $11,680,121.00 I wonder what the 121 was for? Anyway this is storage for fresh water for Somervell Co. The idea is to pump the water from the Paluxy River in Glen Rose to the New Storage Lake that Mills will build. The peoples of Somervell Co. have been paying a 0.120% property tax for years for this to happen. Supposedly everyone in the county will have access to water, thru a system of county wide water lines. Sounds great to me. Also Jay Mills (Toby) will do a Great Job ,Mills knows how to move Dirt. Although they have had a tough time on FM 2174 the rain and truck traffic has been unbelieveable. Also special thanks to Toby for his Grader pulling out one of my Haul Trucks on FM2174 (Thanks).
